Mary Carroll
I have lived in London for nearly all my life but it wasn't until I began studying to be a City of London Guide in 2003 that I discovered what a truly amazing place London is. Since then I have been hooked and can't seem to get enough of it! I have qualified as a Clerkenwell and Islington Guide and a Westminster Guide, as well as a City of London Guide and have just completed the Blue Badge Guiding Course.

Before the London bug took hold of me I was an actress, teacher and lecturer. I still do some acting and run courses on Historic London and Performing Arts in London for City University as well as guiding for the National Trust, the London Festival of Architecture, many colleges, companies and individual groups.

I work with adults, students and children; groups large and small, on coach or on foot, and devise tailor made walks for specialist tours. I guide all over London and as well as all the main tourist sites I take visitors to museums, galleries, churches and palaces, and sites further afield too.

I think what really fascinates me about London are the human stories behind its history, arts and culture; the lives of the Great and the Good and the everyday life of the ordinary Londoner; how London grew to be the city we know today from a Roman encampment 2000 years ago.
