London is more than its grand landmarks - St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and the Houses of Parliament. We introduce you to the people who shaped it: from monarchs to shoemakers, rebels to reformers.

The City of London is over 2000 years old. Let us take you on a journey to show you how this city was created, developed and became one of the major financial and cultural hubs on earth. The Square Mile refers to the small geographic area which we call “ The City " - It is a city within a city, with its own governing body and even its own police force! Although small in size, this area holds significant importance to the UK's history and economy. Some of the places we will explore: - Roman ruins in the city - City church yards - Leadenhall market - Bank junction - Bank of England, Royal Exchange, Mansion House - Guildhall yard Start of tour: Outside Tower Hill underground station End of tour: Outside St. Paul’s cathedral Duration: 2 Hours Walking distance covered: 2 miles

The Blitz was when the German Luftwaffe bombed London between September 1940 and May 1941. Come with me through the city’s streets, to explore the extent of this event and the damage it caused. We will see actual damage which remains to this day and some sites which were exposed by the bombings. We will hear about how life used to be for Londoners and stories about local heroes. Discover 2,000 years of history, from the City of London’s Roman roots to its role as a major global business hub and the political and royal centre of the UK today. We look at the impact of the Great Fire and the Blitz of World War Two. We see well known attractions like the Tower of London and Westminster Parliament with Big Ben but also discover hidden alleyways as well modern iconic skyscrapers. We learn about British politics and the royal family. The City of London was founded by the Romans in 47AD. When they left the British Isles nearly 400 years later, the City was all but abandoned. So, what stories have the Romans left us, and what can we see? On this tour, we will travel off the beaten track to visit remains of the City Wall, a fort, the site of the largest Bath house in the British Isles, a Temple to a mysterious Roman God and the Amphitheatre where gladiators would have taken place in brutal games. Will we also visit the site of the Roman Forum which has been used in many films, including the Harry Potter series.

Join me for an evening filled with haunting tales, ghastly goings on and terrifying legends. Starting at Bank Underground Station (Exit 3), you'll be immersed in a world of ghosts, gore, and all things ghastly. Get ready as we delve into the darker side of the City of London. Don't miss out on this hair - raising experience! On this tour, let me tell you about: - The Ghosts that haunt Bank Junction. - The human skulls found in one of London’s lost rivers. - The ruins of a church now haunted by a notorious Queen of England. - The Resurrection Men that would snatch bodies from graves. - The Scottish freedom fighter who was executed in the most torturous way. And many more besides. Itinerary: We will meet at Bank Station (Exit 3) famous as the location of the Bank of England, but also home to ghosts who had their graves disturbed and those who lost their lives in in the Second World War. It’s also haunted by a grieving sister mourning the death of her brother. Walbrook River - Once an open sewer but why were numerous human skulls found in its banks? Watling Street - What horrors could be lurking down the streets of Medieval London? Cheapside - Why was a priest hanged along one of London’s busiest market areas? Paul’s Cross - located in the grounds of St Paul’s Cathedral, why was a man of God executed here? Temple Bar - what dark stories does the last remaining City gate have to offer? Christchurch Greyfriars - Why does a Queen of England haunt this ruined church? The site of Newgate Jail - Why did a black dog once haunt the site of this infamous prison? Smithfield - Famous for its meat market, but it has also been the site of executions, body snatching & wife selling. There is even a ghost or two at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital. Ross Hamilton Tours Offered St Bartholomew the Great Church - This church survived the Great Fire of 1666 and the Second World War, but why does the founder of the nearby hospital haunt it? Farringdon Station - Who is the screaming spectre that is said to haunt the Underground Station? This tour can be customised to your needs. Please contact me to discuss. In 1666 the City of London burned down almost completely. The fire raged for 4 days while the people of the City struggled to stop it. It was the end of a long, hot and dry summer, it was windy and there was no rain in sight. This fascinating walk will take you around the City of London through telling the story of the Great Fire. We will explore the famous landmarks and you will find out how the fire started, how it was eventually stopped, what happened after and most important of all – who was blamed.
